Taking the Scenic Route

During the exodus of the Israelites out of Egypt, we are told that God did not take the Israelites along the shorter route near the Promised Land, but that instead God took them on the "scenic route," so to speak. Why? In a world that values efficiency, convenience, and speed, why does God sometimes slow play things in our lives? Why does God not answer prayer quickly or take away our struggles with sinful and unhealthy habits immediately when we ask? What gifts does taking the scenic route with God offer us?

From Series: "Exodus: Rediscovering God"

The events of the book of Exodus are probably the most quoted and referenced stories of the entire Bible. In fact, it might not be too much of a stretch to say that in order to truly understand Jesus, you need to know and understand the Book of Exodus. Beginning this week and stretching throughout the fall, we will be studying the book of Exodus on Sundays. Exodus is the story about rediscovering who God is, not just back then but for you and me today. Join us as we introduce the book of Exodus and rediscover God.
