Over the past number of years there have been a number of popular books, shows, and podcasts about organizing and downsizing the possessions in your life. From minimalism to “sparking joy”, lifestyle gurus have provided many helpful ideas and practices to help us live with less. But before all of these modern teachers comes an ancient one: Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus lived out what has become called “the practice of simplicity”. This is an intentional practice in life where we shed the trappings of “more” and learn to live with an inner peace and gratitude toward God while learning to be more generous.
