To be human is to be in the midst of a war of desires. We experience this in a variety of ways in life, from deciding between eating chips or cookies as a snack to things like feeling the pressure to get a little more work done at the office or get home early to spend time with your family. The reality is that so many of the conflicts in our relationship come from the war of desire within us. How can we win this war within us and direct our desires towards what we are truly after? Maybe the answer lies in the grace of God given to the humble.
