Long before the Israelites were enslaved by the Egyptians, Pharaoh was enslaved by fear. So much of the anger, harm, and control we can inflict upon others is in fact about our attempts to mitigate our fear. In a world of fear and anxiety, how can we resist its siren call to try to manipulate and control others and live free in God?
The events of the book of Exodus are probably the most quoted and referenced stories of the entire Bible. In fact, it might not be too much of a stretch to say that in order to truly understand Jesus, you need to know and understand the Book of Exodus. Beginning this week and stretching throughout the fall, we will be studying the book of Exodus on Sundays. Exodus is the story about rediscovering who God is, not just back then but for you and me today. Join us as we introduce the book of Exodus and rediscover God.
