Sometimes a tree can look healthy and strong on the outside, while it is rotting on the inside. Isaiah addresses the danger of practicing a faith that looks good on the outside—attending church, praying, giving—but is in reality disconnected from a true, loving, and obedient heart toward God and others. How can we move beyond a "cheap" faith that costs us little and toward a faith that is evidenced by repentance and a commitment to seeking justice, defending the oppressed, and serving the needy, reflecting the generous heart of the Gospel.
