Enthroned

What is wrong with the world and our individual lives? Is it just sin--the idea that we are flawed and rebel against God's design for us? Or is there more to what's happening in the world behind the scenes? The Bible describes the world as being held in bondage by the powers of darkness--spiritual and human entities, structures, and systems that seek to dehumanize and destroy all that God has created good. How does the ascension of Jesus spell the end of these powers?

From Series: "The Ascension"

During some of the final moments before Jesus was arrested, he said to his disciples, "It is to your advantage that I go away..." (John 16:7). A little more than forty days later Jesus indeed disappear before their eyes as he "ascended into heaven", as the Apostle's Creed says. Why would it be better for Jesus to leave rather than be here with us? Is the ascension of Jesus a small footnote in the Christian story or is it a vital part of God's rescue of our world? Join us for this three-part series where we dig a little deeper into the ascension of Jesus.
